Description

(Just had my all-time weirdest interaction here. Someone accused me of being an African scammer. I am decidedly not. lol)

I would describe myself as content, rather than happy; it's more sustainable. There are so many ideas and activities and projects in my life to interest me that there sometimes feels like there's not enough time in my day. I read, I write, I learn, play, cycle, listen, think, and enjoy art, design, food, wine, friends and living comfortably. I enjoy my work. I am an educated professional who would like to move to another country.

I'm looking for someone who feels the same: equally content and alive and secure in themselves. You should have some interests, be well-read, and preferably have some kind of profession.

Books: I try read a mix of fiction and non-, but have been leaning to the former recently. A few of my favourites this year (2018) so far include Ali Smith's "Autumn" and "Winter," Denis Johnson's "Largesse of the Sea Monster," Ottessa Moshfegh's "Homesick for Another World," and Naomi Alderman's "The Power."

Movies: Definitely go for the art films, not mainstream: I'd rather watch paint dry than a superhero moviebut hey, surprise me. Recently enjoyed "Foxtrot." I don't watch a lot of television, and I don't own a TV. I've always felt there's just too much other interesting stuff to do in life: can I really spare 13 hours on that series? That said, I admit to having enjoyed a few things on Netflix.

Music: Favourite is modern music (see Pitchfork for instance). I also listen to jazz and electronic music quite a bit.

I usually listen to podcasts while cooking or training indoors: Sam Harris's "Waking Up," The Moth; This American Life; Snap Judgement.

I'm a skeptic by nature and always interested in new informationprefer of course if it's peer-reviewed and published in a recognized journal. Into intelligent opinion pieces, too.

I'm atheist; I would call myself anti-theist. Not into anything in any way religious, whether or not it's "organized" superstition (I include here the likes of chakras, crystals, and what-have-you, as well as Abrahamic religions).
